Ethiopia awaits Nigeria
Unless the unexpected happens which is actually one of the elements of football, Nigeria should be playing Ethiopia in the semi-finals of the African women championship, Soutth Africa 2004.
The Nigerian team billed to play Mali this afternoon at the Caledonian stadium, Pretoria at 3.00pm Nigerian time, needs an outright victory to go top of group B which also has Algeria taking on Cameroun in another game which might decide who eventually qualifies alongside the defending champions. Should the Falcons win today, the team wouldl be playing the Ethiopians in the second semi-finals next week Tuesday courtesy of their brilliant 2-1 victory over South Africa but much thanks should also go to the Ghanaian Ladies for beating Zimbabwe 2-0. Ghana finished top of group A with 9 maximum points and are likely to meet the winner of the Algeria/Cameroun contest. Report by Opatola Adewole, Jo'burg South Africa. 0
