Falcons in big injury blow

Ajuma Ameh ruled out of Mali game
The latest news coming from the Falcons camp have it that mid-field marvel, Titi Mekuluyi will take no further part in the ongoing AWC championship in South Africa while Ajumah Ameh who twice wednesday suffered fainting attacks has been ruled out of the Mali match alongside first choice goal keeper, Precious Dede.

Titi Mekuluyi, the pelican stars of Calabar attacking mid-fielder was to undergo surgery yesterday after suffering from a compound fracture following a now established deliberate elbow from a Camerounian defender, Bella Francoise who actually is her team mate back in Nigeria.

As if that is not enough to worry about, another dependable mid-fielder in the team, Ajumah Ameh, twice on Wednesday after the energy sapping Camerounian game fainted and much credit should be giving to the teams medical crew led by Dr Lucky Unuoha and Lanre Osho, the physiotherapist for doing a good job to keep her alive.

Confirming this two developments is the chief coach of the team, Godwin Izilein who has now grown grey hairs as to how best to manage the situation. "We will have to rest Ajumah Ameh for the next game as she is complaining of weakness while we will have to carry on without Titi who is billed to undergo an operation immediately".

"I feel so sad about the develpment and I feel particularly sorry for Titi's parents expecially the mother who payed us a visit before our departure from Abeokuta. It is indeed a big minus for us considering the fact that we would also be without our first choice goal-keeper for the next game so as to allow her fully recover from the knee twist", he said emotionally.

Nigeria protests to CAF.
Nigeria has protested to the confederation of African football (CAF) about the way and manner the match was handled by the Senegalese referee, Gaye Fatou due to her inability to protect the Falcon players during the encounter.

Making this disclosure to nigeriasports.com  is the head of the Nigerian delegation to the championship, Ayo Omidiran who also disclosed that the injury to Titi Mekuluyi which also requires surgery was also streesed.

"I initially wrote to protest against the way the referee handled the match for her failure to protect the Falcon players by cautioning the Camerounians but on getting the news about Titi, I decided to make it more strongly worded.

"These Camerounians need to be curtailed hence we might be having a bigger casualty before the championship runs out", she said angrily wondering if it was all about being on the war front or just a game
