Ajuma Ameh wants commitment from Nigerian fans

Ajuma Ameh
Super Falcons midfielder, Ajuma Ameh wants Nigerian fans to desist from expecting the Falcons to do well at major Championships and start asking themselves what the Falcons expect from them, nigeriasports.com can exclusively report.

Speaking with nigeriasports.com just before their departure to South Africa, Ajuma said she was sick and tired of people asking her what the fans should expect from the Falcons in South Africa.

“Have the fans ever asked themselves what we expect from them? Are we the only ones expected to perform? Don’t they have their own duties?”

“We also expect from Nigerians. They should not be the only ones expecting. They end up putting us under pressure with their expectations of us. But on our own part we will do our very best and hope that Nigerians will also do their best by supporting us in prayers. They should learn to cherish what they have in the Falcons, no matter what happens.”

Ajuma Ameh told nigeriasports.com that it had been hectic being in the national team since January and having little rest.

“Its still a wonderful experience though hectic. At least for the first time I have learned that football can take a lot of your time just like what is obtainable in the professional league in Europe or the USA.”

Cherishes window of opportunity

Though Ameh is not too comfortable with the absence of the likes of Mercy Akide, Stella Mbachu, Rita Nwadike and Maureen Mmadu, she told nigeriasports.com that the foreign based players had done well and represented Nigeria creditably in the past.

“Their absence will surely be felt because they have been part of the team for more than a decade now, but we now have the opportunity to also do Nigeria proud just like they have done before now.”
