Lagos clubs vie for NB Inter-Club Squash
The maiden Nigerian Breweries Inter-Club Squash Racquet Competition holds this weekend at the Lagos Country Club. nigeriasports.com reports that the 3-day competition which runs from 10-12 September is holding at the Squash section of the Country Club. Vindah Edem, Head Publicist of Nigeria Breweries told nigeriasports.com in Lagos that the tournament features players from top clubs in Lagos. These are: Lagos Country Club (hosts), Ikoyi Club 1938,Apapa Club, Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Island Club and UNILAG Senior Staff Club. Also in the cards are Eagle Club, Nigerian Navy Squash Club and Eko Club.
Edem said four events including Men and Women singles and the Veterans.Winners will cart home, six major prizes and fifteen consolation prizes. It is the first time Nigerian Breweries would be collaborating with the Country Club in this competition. Tunde Phillips, Chairman, Squash section of Lagos Country Club said the “three-day tournament promises to be very exciting given the caliber of players who will be on parade.”
Nigerian Breweries foray into sponsorship of Squash brings it as a foremost sponsor of sports in Nigeria by variety. These include Football, Tennis, Table Tennis, Golf, Cycling, and Track & Field.
