Rangers, Enyimba in testy duels

THE Confederation de Africain Football, (CAF) has shifted by one day backward the Enugu Rangers versus Petro Atletico of Angola’s Confederations Cup game from Sunday, September 12 to Saturday, September 11 following a clash in date with Enyimba of Aba versus Etoile du Sahel Champions League game in Aba.

In a statement made available to the media from it’s Cairo, Egypt headquarters, CAF said it would not be possible to take two games live from ‘Nigeria,’ simultaneously, hence the decision to move the Confederations Cup match.

The Rangers game will come up at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium, Enugu at 15:00 GMT; while the other Group A match between Sudanese side, El Hilal and Ashante Kotoko of Ghana comes up much later at 17:00 GMT. In the CAF Champions League, holders, Enyimba take on Etoile Sportive du Sahel (ESS) of Tunisia at the Aba Township stadium at 13:30 GMT on Sunday, September 12.

The Nigerians would need to upturn a 1-0 defeat suffered in Tunis during their first leg game played on August 7, to maintain their Group A leadership. The other Group A match between Africa Sports of Cote d’Ivoire versus Bakili Bullets will take place in Abidjan at 16:00 GMT.
