Marvellous Mercy Akide had put the Nigerian side ahead in the 51st minute.

Both Maureen Madu and Effionwa Ekpo bagged yellow cards in the tension soaked encounter which saw the African queens stretching the highly favoured German team.

Nigeria's hope of getting unto the medals table now rest with the boxing and athletics event with a Nigerian boxer, Muideen Ganiyu now a step away from a possible bronze medal.
