Sweden 2 Nigeria 1

Akide got Nigeria's lone goal
Sweden scored two goals in four minutes to defeat Nigeria 2-1 and book their place in the quarter-finals, but the Super Falcons still qualified to face Germany in the Quaterfinals. Nigeriasports.com can report.

Trailing to Mercy Akide's first-half strike, Sweden were facing an embarrassing early exit.

But Hanna Marklund and Malin Mostrom's goals earned them the victory which takes them through to face Australia.

China have been eliminated after being held to a 1-1 by Mexico, and they have been joined by Greece, who lost three times.

Josefine Oeqvist should have buried the Falcons but fluffed three great scoring chances in either half.

he 21-year-old is one of the rising stars of Swedish football having first made her mark at last year's World Cup.

As it is, Nigeria will face world champions, Germany in Friday's quaterfinal. The African champions lost 3-1 to the Germans in a friendly game in July.

HURRAY!!! What a great match but the Falsons or Super Falcons rather had slept of despite of that early goal but still we are in the race. But I am wondering a lot of that Quarter Final Match against the World Champion, Germany. That means the coach, Ismaila Mabo has a lot of work in hands to do. We want those gurls to make us proud. I believe in those gurls and if they can pass through that Quarter final Turnel that means there is no anymore obstacle in that race whom they can't beat.
Thanks. UP SUPER FALCONS!!!

From all indication, it seems crystal clear that our super Falcons are no mere underdogs, they got all it takes to rank top in the world, they've proved to all and sundry that they are no push-by, all they need now is to consolidate on their composition and tackle hard on the germans.
Our technical crews are doing a great job and am sure they will fall back on the archives of recent games falcons had played against the german squad.
Friday's quarter final would be a game of the survival of the fittest, our girls had relatively(little) nothing atstake like the reigning world champs whose gonna play the games under severe duress & tension
.....guess what? the falcons would presumably do the damage in a relaxed and enthusiastic mood meanwhile Mabo Ismaila (Falcons head coach)would wanna prove his critics wrong on this game
i wish every naija fan a more remarkable & exciting days ahead
....God bless y'all
