Dolphin, Enyimba in match of the season

Dolphins' Joe Eyimofe
All roads on Wednesday will lead to the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna as league leaders, Dolphin of Port Harcourt take on Champions, Enyimba in a match that could well decide which town the League shield will rest throughout the 2005 season- Aba or Port Harcourt.

Coming from victories over the weekend, Enyimba in Aba (1-0) against Tornadoes while Dolphin won away to Mighty Jets (2-1), this game will surely be a cracker and true representation of Nigerian Football as both sides, evenly matched, player by player will not want to leave anything to chance  as far as the match is concerned.

Dolphin ended up one nil winners in Aba when both sides met in the first round and would think they can do a double on the league champions, but looking at the form of both sides in recent league games, Enyimba seem the more potent side.

In the last five games, the Champions have won all, scoring thirteen goals and conceding none.

Dolphin, on the other hand has won four of their last five scoring eight goals and conceding four.

Man to man, this match might just be the greatest league confrontation Nigerian football has seen in a long time.

On the two sides of the post will be Nigeria’s first and second choice keepers- Vincent Enyeama for Enyimba and Sunday Rotimi for Dolphins while on the bench, Dolphin will have Chijioke Ejiogu, arguably Nigeria’s current fourth best keeper.

Dele Aiyenugba, who will be on the bench for Enyimba was Sunday Rotimi’s deputy in the U-23 side that won silver for Nigeria at last year’s All Africa Games.

Enyimba’s defence will have Yusuf Mohammed, Ajibade Omolade, Uga Okpara and Obinna Nwaneri, Nwaneri having been part of the unsuccessful U-23 team that tried their luck at qualifying for Athens 2004 Olympics.

Dolphin will have the bulk of the defence that played for Nigeria at the All Africa Games- Kennedy Chinwo (was also with the U-17 team at Trinidad three years ago), Joe Eyimofe (Still from that U-17 side), Emma Godwin and Kingsley Williams another junior international waiting in the wings.

Onyekachi Okonkwo, Damien Udeh and Muri Ogunbuyi will likely run the midfield show for Enyimba while their opposite numbers in Dolphin may be Uduak Udofia, Bola Bello and former youth international, Kelechi Osunwa.

Victor Ezeji, whose lone strike destroyed Enyimba in Aba is fit for the game and will be assisted by either of Haruna Musa, Uwazuoke Wobo or Kennedy Boboye, while Ochuko Ojobo will try to do damage from the right.

Enyimba’s attack is where there would be a glut of talent as the likes of Ndidi Anumunu, David Terkyase, Joetex Frimpong, Chibuzor Ozurunba and Ekenne Ezenwa will fight for the available places on the starting line up.

Which ever way the result pans out, Kaduna fans will be the real winners as the football on display will be right up there.

Enyimba has lost any league match in their last six games while Dolphin has not lost in five league games and the last time they lost at home in the league was last year when Enyimba whacked them 3-0 in Port Harcourt.

There is no doubt about it that with the present form in Enyimba right now i for see no team withstanding their heat following the rate of spirit minded people and understanding within the mangement and the players. For Dolphine they should forget about that match 'cos the Aba boys tutuored under the wathcful eyes of Okey ' ll never live any stone unturned against Dolphine come wednesday. Its really a pay back time for what they did to them (Enyimba) in Aba in the first leg.

I agree so much with what Mr football above has just said. Infact, he hit the point by his positive and well atticulatted prediction of ENYIMBA carrying the day aginst Dolphin. Indeed it is a pay back time
Nzogbu Nzogbu Enyimba Enyi!!!!
