FALCONS STARTING XI against Japan

Ismaila Mabo
Super Falcons Chief coach, Ismaila Mabo has left out team captain, Rita Nwadike from his starting XI to face Japan today in Nigeria's Olympic Games Opener in Athens.

Mabo told nigeriasports.com that he decided to leave out his captain based on current form.

"She is not as fit as i expected and it would make no sense using her ahead of other players who would make the difference."

"Its better I use those of them who's form I can vouch for and let the older ones like Nwadike come on later after watching the tide of the game."

Yinka Kudaisi will captain the team in place of Nwadike.

Effioawan Ekpo also made the starting line up for what was believed to be her strength in the area of marking and her confidence on the ball.

Mercy Akide will pair Pepetua Nkwocha upfront even though her brief may be to fall back to the midfield when it matters.
