CBN Open: Female Tennis players not serious.

Former and undefeated national female tennis player, Veronica Iwebema (nee Oyibokia) has tongue lashed female players as not serious and lacking focus in the sport.Bitter at what she described as the slow pace in the development of the sport in the female category, the former national champion told nigeriasports.com the National Stadium complex, Lagos that the players were not serious and lacked vision.

"A good number of these female players do not know what they were at the championship venue for, and do not have any good game plan. They need a lot of counselling to improve in their standard", she said.

She also noted indiscipline as a major factor retarding their performances. "These players are a bunch of indiscipline. They are not focused and are not ready to learn", she noted at the wake of this year's CBN Open, which serves off from this evening at the National Stadium Complex, Lagos.

As the officials were busy making the draws for the championship, which has N200,000 and N100,000 at stake in men and women singles champions respectively.

From the draws, the men would have a chart of 128 as usual in the main draw and a draw of 64 in the preliminary, while the female would have a draw of 32 and another 32 in the preliminary.

The preliminary matches serves off from this evening, and the main draw action is expected to start from Monday morning.
