Champions Cup: Comets through to final

Nigeria representatives at the just concluded group-B qualifiers of the African champions club cup competition, Ebun Comets basketball club of Akure is through to the final after coming second behind Ivories champion, ABC basketball club of Abidjan.

The coach Andrew Isokpehi tutored lads won four of their five qualifications matches losing to the eventual table topper, ABC by 58-51 points in its third game.

The club had sounded a note of warning it is not in the Ivories city for sight seeing when it recorded a 90-63 point’s win over LPRC Oilers of Liberia, African Sports was soon to taste the other side of defeat when the Ogo Odaudu captained Nigerian side defeated the Ivories giant 75-65 before losing to ABC.

The bounced back from the little set-back to win her two other matches against CBS of Togo (79-46) and NPA Pythons of Liberia at the gymnasium of Hotel Ivories in Abidjan, finishing with 9 points, a result which has been described as the best the team could garnered despite the fact that the players have been idle since the beginning of this year due to the delay in the take off of the Nigeria premier league.
