Isreali clubs raid Nigerian league
Four top players will no longer be plying their trade in the Nigerian premier league as they have been snapped up by two different Isreali clubsides, nigeriasports.com understands.
The duo of Dayo Davies and Joseph Cole of Julius Berger and Dolphins respectively have been signed by Maccabi Haifa, the present club of out of favour Super Eagles international, Eric Ejiofor while its next door neighbours, Maccabi Tel aviv have added Bernard Okorowanta and Francis Nduka, both of Union bank sports club to their list of foreign legion. The clearance proceedures nigeriasports.com learnt was concluded earlier in the week in Abuja thereby paving the way for the players to join the rest of the squad in pre-season training ahead of the 2004-2005 league season. Meanwhile, 3 other Nigerian players presently on trials also in Isreal will know their fate by this weekend, nigeriasports.com can authoritatively report. For both Seyi Ogunsanya and Obinna Nnodim of Enyimba and Julius Berger respectively, one of them will have to make way for the other as the modest Isreali club Ashdot FC can only sign one of the two in the central defence position even as the club which has been in Bulgaria in the last 3 weeks for pre-season training is expected back today. Chukwudi Nwogu is also expected to become a player of Hapoel Tel aviv in a few days time although the club has already concluded plans to loan him out to another club also in the Isreali league. 1
