LAGOS - Nigeria Tuesday named a 147-man “Team Nigeria” contingent to the Athens2004 Olympic Games which begins August 13 - 29 in Greece in 10 sports event - Athletics, Boxing, Basketball (women) Football, (women) Judo, Swimming, Taekwondo, Table Tennis, Weightlifting and Wrestling - with a promise by administrators that they would return with good results, reports nigeriasports.com

The figure released by Nigeria Olympics Committee in Lagos shows that track and field has the largest number of 26 athletes with six accompanying officials. The country’ would be participating in the following track events: 100m, (men and women) 200m, (men and women) 400m, (men) 4x100m, (men and women) and 4 x 400m (men and women).

I KNOW THEY WILL MAKE THE COUNTRY PROUD WHEN THEY GET THERE. WHAT IMPRESSED ME AMONG THOSE LIST IS THE INCLUSIVE OF MARY ONYALI & UCHENNA EMEDOLU BECOS I HEARD SOMETIMES AGO THAT THEY WERE INJURED AND THAT'S WHY THEY COULDN'T PARTICIPATE IN THE MOBIL TRACK AND FIELD EVENTS HERE IN NIGERIA AND THEY WON'T BE ABLE TO SURVIVE IT TILL THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE EVENT. BUT NOW EVERYTHING IS PERFECT. I BELIEVE A LOT IN BOTH OF THEM . I AM NOT WRITING OTHERS OFF TOO BUT WHAT I AM TRYING TO SAY IS THAT THESE TWO ARE LIKE THE LEADERS THERE BECOS THEY HAVE BEEEN DOING IT FOR THE COUNTRY AND NOW THEY WILL DO IT AGAIN.
MOREOVER, WHAT ABOUT THE LIST OF BOXERS, TABLE TENNIS' AND THE WEIGHTLIFTERS? BECOS I KNOW WE WILL SURELY GET AT LEAST 5 MEDALS OUT OF THESE THREE EVENTS. PLEASE I WANNA KNOW ABOUT THEIR LIST BECOS I HEARD THAT ONE OF OUR GREAT BOXERS "DAVID INZORITE" IS INJURED AND I WANNA KNOW IF HE WAS DROPPED OR PICKED ALONG WITH THEM.
THANKS.

Oh my God!!! which type of country is this? Imagine, this list is a big lie to all of us in Nigeria. I have not seen any male participate in 200m, No one in Hurdles etc. I don't think there is any hope of getting a single medal in this year Olympic O. Or is there anyone that can enlighten me where we can get hope of getting medal?

hanks.
