Nigeria names 147 for Olympics![]() The figure released by Nigeria Olympics Committee in Lagos shows that track and field has the largest number of 26 athletes with six accompanying officials. The country’ would be participating in the following track events: 100m, (men and women) 200m, (men and women) 400m, (men) 4x100m, (men and women) and 4 x 400m (men and women). Although the list did not show any surprises, nigeriasports.com checks showed that track and field watchers in the country were taken aback when the list excludes Mary Onyali-Omagbemi and Uchenna Emedolu from the relay teams. Sports Minister Col. Musa Mohammed, included them in the Olympic team after they failed to make an appearance at the Trials held in Abuja, last May. Both will be running in the 200m events at the Games.
