Ndanusa set to raise tennis standard

ABUJA - The Nigeria Tennis Federation president, Sani Ndanusa has set out plans to improve the lots of coaches and players by sending them to workshops, seminars and points ranking tournaments. Ndanusa told nigeriasports.com in Abuja Monday that players are already featuring in an ITF Future Tournament in Lagos, but adds that “I want them to also participate in other ITF points ranking tournaments out side Nigeria to improve their standard."

“We have good plans on how to improve the standard of the players, but financial constraint affects some of our programmes. Some companies we spoke to have made promises on sponsorship and I hope they keep to their promises, so that we can executive our laudable programmes,” he told nigeriasports.com

On the development of coaches, Ndanusa said some would attend the forthcoming ITF African Regional Coaches Workshop, which is the fourth in the series in Pretoria, South Africa. Karl Davis, the co-odinator of the programme said the 4th African Regional Coaches Workshop would hold at the “High Performance Centre” of the University of Pretoria, South Africa from November 22 - 27. Among the speakers at the workshop are Craig Tiley of South Africa, Ann Quinn from Australia, Frank Couraud of ITF; Achile Tapka (ITF), Machar Reid (ITF) and Prince Madema also of ITF.
