NFA cautions shooting fans![]() According to the media officer of Shooting Stars, Jubril Arowolo, the caution is coming few days after the Oyo State Government call on the supporters to be patient and show understanding to the success of the club. The NFA in a fax message, signed by Tunji Babalola on behalf of the Secretary General, Taiwo Ogunjobi, told the Club and the Oyo State Football Association to educate their fans or face the music. The message described as unacceptable, the physical attack on the team officials and players after the Shooting’s week 26 encounter against Plateau United of Jos at the Lekan Salami Stadium. NFA, however, warns that such unwarranted behaviour would not be taken kindly if repeated, while it requests the State Football Association to provide adequate security for the Club Officials, Players and the visiting teams in subsequent matches. Meanwhile, General Manager of the club, Adegboyega Onigbinde has called on soccer fans to sheath their swords and engage in supporting their clubs instead of turning to violence.
“It’s sad what football has become in the last two years,” he told Nigeriasports.com “There is no good moral in beating coaches and players and such act is bad for the image of football and all that it represents. “We can all enjoy football when we accept that you either win some or lose some” he concluded. The Shooting Stars were banished to Ilorin after their fans went on rampage last season. The NFA has also directed clubs that a minute silence should be observed in honour of the late Mr. Edozie Enemuo, its Head of the Marketing Department, who died in a ghastly motor accident last weekend during an official assignment.
