Germany 3 Nigeria 1

The Super Falcons of Nigeria on Saturday in Frankfurt fell to World Champions, Germany by 3-1 in front of 5,567 spectators at the Bieberer Mountain. Nigeriasports.com can authoritatively report.

Both sides intensify preparation for the Athens 2004 soccer event which will come up from 13 - 29 August.

Coming off a 0-1 loss to Norway on Wednesday, Germany showed determination and grit with goals from Petra Wimbersky, Birgit Prince and Steffi Jones in the 7, 27 and 89 minutes.

Petra Wimbersky shot the Germans into an early lead as her strike ricochet off the post before sailing into the back of the net to register her fifth international goal in the 7 minute.

Defender Birgit prince missed a sitter in the 11 minute for the Germans with Precious Dede covering her goal well to narrow the space.

The German pressure paid off in the 27 minute as Prince made no mistake converting a half chance.

Second half substitute, Conny Pohlers brought the best out of Precious Dede in the 65 minute to a thunderous of applause from the spectators.

Ajumah Ameh however got a goal for the Falcons with four minutes left to play capitalising on a defensive blunder to make score at 2-1.

With just a minute to go, Steffi Jones restored Germany’s two goal lead with a backbreaking strike.
