Ali,Booth fight put off again

Bash Ali (right) will wait another day
The much hyped World Boxing Federation[WBF]Cruiserweight title bout between Nigeria's Bash Ali and Tony Booth of Britain may have unwittingly found its way into the record books as the most postponed fight in world boxing history as organisers annonced yet another posponment,nigeriasports.com exlusively reveals.

Ali was scheduled to defend his title against Booth in  Lagos today, but a terse message sent by the champion to nigeriasports.com early Saturday morning states that the fight has been postponed due  to flight complications.

Says the obviously disconsolate 48-year-old:"My fight is postponed due to flight complications which could have been avoided.Anew date will be announced soon.I am sad, depressed and confused.I am sick."

Booth ,it was gathered, was expected to arrive in Lagos for the fight on July 12,but his camp in London later shifted date of his arrival to Thursday. However promoters of the bout had expectedly become apprehensive and ultimately downcast when he failed to turn up altogether.

The fight ,initially, was billed to hold on April 25.But the Booth camp reportedly pulled out of the arrangement because Ali had failed to undergo the mandatory HIV/AIDS Test two weeks to the bout.

Promoters had to call off the fight again on May 29 explaining that the date coincided with the annual Democracy DAY celebration in Nigeria which the broadcast rights owners, Daar Communications, were committed to beeming live to Nigerians.
