Doris Jacob not happy with Gold![]() Doris won the event in 51.89 secs to be followed by Gloria Nwosu in 52.13 secs for the silver while Christiana Ekpukhon won the bronze medal after crossing the line in 52.31 sec. But Doris said she needs to work harder to face the challenges in Athens Olympics next month. While reacting on her poor performance, the petit Doris said the speculations that she was not going to be allowed to feature did not give her the concentration in her training. “However such speculation to distract people oftentimes helps to toughen one. Such is really expected as some on some quarter would want to do all they could to pull one down. I was not surprise. “I will put in my best in my training to ensure I win a medal for my country in Athens next month”, she told nigeriasports.com in a chat at the Abuja National Stadium soon after her event at the Mobil Track and Field. The Nigeria Immigration Service representative said she would leave the shores of this country on Monday to participate in a number of International Amateur Athletic Federation Grand Prix in Europe. “Those big events my manager has arranged for me will no doubt help in building me up for the Athens Olympics. Those Grand Prix events will push me up, and I will excel”, she told nigeriasports.com. The light skinned Doris however denied ever involving in the use of performance enhancing drug, but said she was only clamped down on by the Athletic Federation of Nigeria for alleged reporting late to camp. “I cannot use drug. I will only do what my power can take me”, she stated. Doris however said that the Bahama’s sensation, Tonic Williams would threaten her gold medal dream at Athens Olympics. “Should I meet her in my early heat, she (Williams) will certain give way for me to excel, and I will eventually climb up the podium to receive the gold medal”, she said.
