Tyson storms Nigeria

Enigmatic former world boxing heavyweight champion, Mike Tyson is slated to be in Nigeria by September. He is coming in the bill of Capital Promotions who are organising a world class boxing contest in conjunction with the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control. The contest is fixed for September 18.

Femmy Carrena, the marketing consultant to the project tagged the “Real deal” informed that the President of capital Promotions USA Paul Scinzki confirmed that Mike Tyson has accepted to join the train of the boxers and officials coming into Nigeria from the USA for the fight.

Meanwhile,Tyson would not be fighting but would be involved in the promotion of the fight. To this effect he is expected to visit about five states within the country promoting boxing.

According to Carrena, Sciezinski is also coming in with over 100 businessmen and investors into the country to take advantage of the fight to explore business opportunities in Nigeria.

The contest is expected to feature four bouts among top US boxers and two Nigerian national title fights.

Another welcome development along the way!!! I was just looking at historical records of Nigerian sporting achievements a few minutes ago, and I couldn'nt help but stomach painful nostalgia regarding the fact that Boxing which used to be Nigeria's guarantee of medals in the world of sports has since fallen into decrepit levels of mediocrity..cry the beloved country..hmm..maybe this will kick us up the backside into the right direction?
