Gboko set to join Women League

LAGOS - A new soccer club,Invisible Angles of Gboko are set to join the growing list of Women clubS and will feature in the professional league division two expected to kick off across the country on the July 22. Already, the club has signed six new (quality) players to beef up its arsenal for the big kick-off. Speaking with nigeriasports.com the team manager, Micheal Marcatty said every effort is being made to ensure a successful take off and added that funds are been provided by the Benue state government.

Amongst others, Marcatty listed his top players for the women's league as:  Mary Azubuike,(Goalkeeper) Helen Anaeneme, Chinyere Ibe, Vivan Anyanwu, Mabel Odiaka and Ugochi Nwimoh. some of the players told nigeriasports.com that they are ready for the new adventure in Professional women soccer.“We will play with our heart to make sure we gain promotion to play in the top Professional league at the end of the season with a resounding success,” Azubuike spoke on their behalf.

Nigeria which currently runs a successful amateur women's league with such clubs as Pelican Stars, Jegede Babes and Delta Queens are expected to take the game to a new high by introducing Professionalism to keep the girls interested in club soccer. The West Africa giants have won the African Women Championships back-to-back three consecutive times and are also expected to retain the title a fouth time when the championships kick off in South Africa next November.
