Gumel promises only the best for Nigeria
LAGOS - PRESIDENT of Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) Buba Gumel, has promised Nigerians that the committee would be representing Nigeria in Athens Games with the best athletes the country has and said Nigeria would return in “flying colours” from Greece.
Gumel told nigeriasports.com that the NOC has “tasked all federations that will be present in the Olympics to make sure they provide their best athletes for this Games and I give you my word, they will,” he said. “As you know, we already have some of the athletes camped in Germany preparing for the Games and that shows you how serious we are for this Games. I hope that at the end of the Games we will come home with medals which is our desire,” Gumel told nigeriasports.com Gumel assured that by the end of the Nigeria/Mobile Track and Field Championships this weekend in Abuja, athletes who meet qualifying standards set by the Athletes Federation of Nigeria (AFN) would join others in Europe.
