NCF Invites 132 players for Chess Olympiad Trial

LAGOS - Nigeria Chess Federation (NCF) has invited 132 male and female players for the first stage of trials ahead of the country’’s participation at world Chess Olympiad in Mallocar, Spain in October.

The invitation came after a careful deliberation of the selection committee which has Lekan Adeyemi as the chairman and Mrs Jideonwu George as the secretary early this month and approved by the federation president, Theophilus Caiafas. Nigeriasports.com gathered that the invited players were picked based on their performance in the brain game in all the major competitions in the last three years and they are expected to arrive Lagos on July 25th while the trials starts the following day and it would run through to July 29th at the national stadium Suru-lere, Lagos.

 Some of the invited male players are, Odion Aikhoje, Odum Martin, Kyosu Joe, Apollo Akomaka, Fawole John, Kigigha Bomo, Etuk Akpan Leonard, Olape Bunmi, and Ajele Rotimi. Invited in the women category are: Amadasun Blessing, Omogbale Phybian, Deola Durodola, Esimike Anthonia, Nwkia Ijeoma, Buraimo Dawodu, Alabi Omolola, Tolulope Alabi, Taiwo Fatusin and Lateefat Lawal.
