Body builders want Libya action

The President of the Nigeria Amateur Body Building Federation, Soye Elekima has told nigeriasports.com show that his federation needs financial help to send about 14 body builders to the African Championships taking place in Libya next September.

Elekima said the Championship was initially scheduled to hold in Port Harcourt,  but Nigeria lost the hosting rights to Libya after they postponed it twice due to lack of funds.

“We made series of representations to the Governor and that is because, as a Niger Delta Man, when Nigeria won hosting rights I made sure Port Harcourt was chosen as host city.”

“But somehow, after one year and two postponements, we had to concede to Libya who were more financially prepared for the event.”

Soye said now that the African body had given Libya the hosting rights it has become imperative that Nigeria send competitors to the event.

“We are begging for assistance from the State Government, the Federal Government, corporate bodies and individuals so we do not miss out on this opportunity.”

He listed benefits of attending the African Championships as qualification for the World Championships in Russia in November and a good performance at the World Championships would also see them qualify for the Mr. Olympia event that will take place in the United States of America.
