Minister look to Falcons

"Our expectation is that you will bring the gold medal back from Athens. You must think gold at all times. We have done it before. At Atlanta 1996 Olympics, our boys won the gold and I believe that you too can do the same" said Mohammed after watching the Super Falcons at their training session at the practice pitch of the national stadium, Abuja.

The Minister, who was received on arrival by members of the NFA Women Football Development Committee, Bassey Koma and Ben Alozie as well as officials of the team said;

"The aim of sending you on a training tour to Germany is that you will sharpen your skills there under the best of facilities and play qualitative friendly matches. On our part we are assuring you of the best welfare package. If there is any problem, let us know through your Coach and we will solve it immediately. We have also insured you in case of any injury” added

Muhammed also assure the players that all their allowances will be paid before their departure on Monday June 14.

The Sport Minister admitted in a chat with Nigeriasports.com that the Super Falcons are in a tough group but stated that with determination, Nigeria will scale through the group.

“Only determination will see the players through. If they enter the pitch with determination at all times, I see no reason why we should not get out of the group to the next stage of the competition” he said.

 “Our girls are very good and parade some of the best players in the world and from what I have seen of the in training, they are doing well. They should do equally well at the Olympics in Athens.”
