Champions League draw excites Anyansi

Felix Anyansi, Chairman of Enyimba Football Club of Aba has described Tuesday's draw for the group phase of the 2004 African Champions League which pitted the defending champions in Group A along with African Super Cup foes, Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia, among others, as a delightful development.

Enyimba, controversial champions of the 2003 edition, will battle for one of  the two semi-final tickets in their group with Etoile,Africa Sports of Cote d'Ivoire and Bakili Bullets of Malawi.

"The draw was very fine, there is no cause for alarm," said Anyansi who was at the venue of the draw told nigeriasports.com."I know  it's going to be a fight to the finish in that group,it's going to be tough.Everybody knows that our group is the stronger of the two."

The other group features former champions Esperance of Tunisia,USMA of Algeria,Jean d'Arc of Senegal and Supersports of South Africa.

Enyimba play their first game in the round-robin series away to Africa Sports on July 10.But when prodded on the potentially dicey game against Etoile,Anyansi assured that his team will be up to the task when the time comes.

"It doesn't matter how many times you play against a particular team,it depends on how well prepared you are before each encounter.I'm sure we are capable of beating them again," he remarked.

Anyansi also decribed Enyimba's triumph over Ismaili of Egypt in the court of the African Football Confederation [CAF] as heart-warming,adding that he had always believed his club would come out unscathed.

Said him:"We never used any ineligible player throughout the campaign. But the whole allegation and the trial process was a nightmare,I'm glad it is over."
